How do we maintain our balance?
To understand the intricacy of balance, we must acknowledge the collaboration of three fundamental systems: visual information from the eyes, position information from the muscles and joints (known as deep sense), and the balance system within the inner ear.
In the clinic, balance is tested through a battery of "dynamic computerized posturography" tests. It helps determine whether there is a balance issue and, if so, its severity and which of the three systems is the cause.
Dynamic computerized posturography is used to evaluate the 3 sub-systems of balance.
