After a tonsil and/or adenoid surgery
Following tonsil and/or adenoid surgery, it is important to avoid consuming hard, hot, and acidic foods for 2 weeks. Adequate fluid intake should be maintained, and painkillers can be used as needed. While recovery is typically shorter for children (around two weeks), it may take up to 3 weeks for adults. During the recovery, patients may experience throat and ear pain, difficulty in eating and drinking, weight loss, and fever. However, these can be managed with appropriate medications. Although most patients can be discharged after the surgery, hospitalization may be required in certain high-risk situations. Since the risk of bleeding during the recovery period ranges between 1-3%, patients should have access to medical consultation for three weeks and attend their follow-up appointments.
