High-resolution computerized tomography is an essential imaging modality to evaluate inner ear anatomy.
Before the cochlear implant surgery decision, a meticulous follow-up with hearing aids and detailed auditory tests are done. Also, imaging studies like computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging are performed to evaluate developmental anomalies related to the inner ear and auditory nerve that may accompany hearing loss. Additionally, if necessary, meningococcal and pneumococcal vaccines are administered to cochlear implant candidates.
